A life lived looking forward to Friday

A friend of mine related to me a conversation she had with her father this past Monday. He said something most of us say all the time, "I can't wait until Friday."
This provoked an unusual response and a lingering question to her: "Am I going to live the rest of my life looking forward to Friday?" Such a simple question that echoed in her. It still echoes in me.
I've realized that this question is just a derivative question of a much bigger question currently being posed by my generation: what am I going to do with my life? Is this [insert your mundane job here] what life is supposed to be?
For now, the weekend is upon us. T.G.I.F. How will we answer this question, perhaps the most important, most difficult question we can answer?
